Fourth Decade
Batch 1980 – 1989
Life within the Chemical Engineering department
was filled with fun, excitement, and of course challenges. When I entered the ChE department, I was in a class that comprised perhaps one of the smallest batches in ChE. Our class was the only one in third year while there were two sections each in the fourth and fifth years. Prof. Eduardo Ignacio (whom we fondly called Tatang) was the department head and we always made sure we had an annual celebration on his birthday. The ChES calendar was always filled with activities that include the ChES Induction, ChE Week, mini-Olympics, “Kemikalan”, and Engineering Week celebration. Of course, the big highlight of the year is always the Baguio Field Trip when fifth year students find an “excuse” to travel together to Baguio to conduct plant visits and “pleasure trips”.
